At Between Friends, we focus on abilities, not disabilities!

Between Friends provides quality social, recreation, and development opportunities so that people with disabilities can connect, grow, and belong. Through our wide offerings we aim to create safe and supportive environments for people with disabilities to engage with their peers, have fun and learn skills, not only in our programs but in the community as well! We endeavour to increase the community's awareness, positive attitudes, and sensitivity towards their fellow citizens with disabilities.

2024 Giving Opportunities

Option 1: Lunch and Learn
Grab your colleagues and spend 30 mins learning about what Between Friends is all about. Presentation will include some history as well as what makes Between Friends such a unique program in our community. We will also spend time discussing the importance of inclusion and how your corporation can take steps to be a more inclusive environment for all. Fun trivia questions will conclude this presentation to encourage participation from all involved.
Minimum of 10 employees must be present to receive this point. In person and Online option available.

Option 2: Inclusion Training
Grab your colleagues for a 45min Virtual or In Person Training on how Between Friends can support your corporation on becoming a more inclusive environment.
This opportunity would be good for all companies who have already taken part in our Lunch and Learn in previous years.
Minimum of 5 employees must be present to receive this point. In person and Online option available.

Option 1: Volunteer at Between Friends Casino
May 17-18 at Deerfoot Inn & Casino. Looking for 2 volunteers to come fill a shift at our 2024 Casino. Roles such as: Chip Runner, cashier, banker, count room are available.
Minimum of 2 volunteers per company

Option 2: Days of Caring at Camp Bonaventure (South Location)
Get prepared to get DIRTY! Camp Bonaventure has many projects leading up to and during camp that we can use volunteers to help! These include; setting up and maintaining our Camp Garden, and other possible construction/cleaning projects.
This opportunity is only available May, June and September (2-3 hour time commitment)
5-15 Volunteers needed.

Option 3: Host a BBQ Lunch at Camp Bonaventure
Bring your group down to Camp Bonaventure to host a BBQ lunch for our campers!
This option is only available in July and August on Fridays. Companies will provide; Hot Dogs, Buns, Chips and juice boxes. Between Friends will supply all condiments and cooking supplies.
Max 10 volunteers.

Option 4: Volunteering at Camp Bonaventure
Your group will spend a half day on site with our Campers lending a hand.
Opportunity available at our North and South locations.
Opportunity available July and August only (Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm)
- 10 Volunteers Max at South Location (volunteers may be separated into 2 groups)
- 5 Volunteers Max at North Location

Option 5: Build a creative wall at Camp.
Help create an interactive space on our fence at Camp B (South location only). Opportunity available June-August.
Number of volunteers - Unlimited
Company must purchase all supplies and build wall to be attached to existing fence.

Option 1: Donate directly to support our Programs and Services
Minimum $500 donation for a Give More Point.
Donations will receive a tax receipt plus the company will be recognized through social media as well as in our annual impact report and newsletters.

Direct Employee giving funds directly to Between Friends (Through Canada Helps or Benevity)

Option 3: Friends in Motion
Grab a team of 4 and join our Flagship fundraising event FRIENDS IN MOTION!
Wednesday March 20th at Schanks Sports Bar. Teams will be partnered with a Between Friends member and take part in Mini Olympics style event.
Teams needs to raise minimum $1000 to participate

Option 4: Enter a Team for our Golf Tournament
Join us on Wednesday August 21st at one of the most scenic golf resorts; Silvertip Golf Course in Canmore, Alberta. Silvertip is surrounded by 600 acres of grasslands, wildlife and mountain vistas. Enjoy a friendly round of golf while raising much needed funds for people with disabilities.
