Big Brothers Big Sisters creates and empowers quality one-to-one mentoring relationships for children and youth in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Okotoks and surrounding communities. Our staff members are experts at recruiting and screening volunteers; making intentional, meaningful matches; and providing the support necessary for mentoring relationships to have a lasting impact. Many young people in our communities face adversities, such as family violence, issues with mental health, poverty, bullying, and identity challenges. Twothirds or 66 per cent of BBBS mentees have experienced four or more forms of these adversities. Faced with these challenges, children and youth may not have the opportunity to live up to their full potential. At BBBS, we ensure that children and youth have the relationships they need to develop and build resiliency and to realize their full potential. With the support of our qualified staff, mentors form strong developmental relationships with their mentees.
